Bowling Green, KY – For a Real Change, Inc. will host Living as Leaders, a girl’s leadership event, on October 14 at 9 a.m. at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center located at 2355 Nashville Rd. This year’s theme, “Leading in the Moment,” is set to prepare girls in grades 3-8 to develop leadership skills they can practice in different situations.

The three-hour program will focus on communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. The topics for this year were prompted by youth wanting to find ways to be involved in community service after the December 2021 tornadoes that impacted the local Bowling Green area as well as other parts of the state.

“I remember volunteering during tornado relief efforts and seeing so many youth wanting to assist with neighborhood distributions in any way that they could. They were determined to serve, and it was inspiring to see youth want to step up and lead,” said Aurelia Spaulding, Executive Director and Founder of For a Real Change, Inc. “The Living as Leaders Leading in the Moment event this year is about showing young leaders what they can do, and also nurturing their desire to serve however they can.”

Speakers and sessions include CPR training with the American Red Cross, Safety and Self-Defense with Officer Melissa Bailey of the WKU Police Department, and a leadership session from the Bowling Green Fire Department. Mental Health Coach and Wellness Advocate Nicole Clement will share remarks on handling pressure and utilizing the tools at hand to lead in any given situation. Plus, the event will be filled with fun, free t-shirts, and giveaways.
