For a Real Change’s Career Pursuit program component to guide youth in career and college pathways
Bowling Green, KY – For a Real Change, Inc. is excited to announce the launch of Career Pursuit, a dynamic new program component designed to broaden young people’s understanding of academic programs and career options this academic year. Career Pursuit gives participants the chance to explore a variety of professional pathways through partnerships with local businesses, colleges, and universities, expanding access to valuable resources and experiences outside the traditional classroom setting.
Supported by a United Way Flexible Spending Grant, Career Pursuit is integrated into the nonprofit’s key youth programs, including Jonesville Academy [a partnership with Boys to Men Leadership Group], My Sister is Succeeding, and Dueña de mi futuro [a partnership with the Hispanic Organization for the Promotion of Education]. Each of these programs has a strong emphasis on academic and leadership development, with additional components for college and career exploration.
With Career Pursuit, students participate in intentional discussions, worksheets, and tailored lessons, giving them tools to identify and develop their personal and professional interests. High school participants in particular will gain hands-on insights through visits to business establishments.
Recent Highlights: On October 26, 2024, youth from Jonesville Academy and My Sister is Succeeding participated in Career Pursuit’s inaugural field trip to Sublime Media Group, where they received a first-hand look at multimedia careers. During the visit, students learned about careers in videography, digital marketing, strategic marketing, and web design. They observed how diverse roles collaborate to serve clients and discussed a mock marketing project, helping them understand the teamwork and innovation that drive the multimedia industry.
The next Career Pursuit trip is scheduled for The Medical Center – WKU Health Sciences Complex, where students will gain insight into various healthcare professions.
