We are pleased to announce the start of Learn. Serve. Impact. this fall 2023. Learn. Serve. Impact. is the leadership in service program of For a Real Change, created to empower youth to improve their quality of life and those within their reach through education, applied learning, and meaningful service experiences.
Learn. Serve. Impact. creates a space for youth from all backgrounds to initiate dialogue, discuss issues important to them, and impact their communities locally and beyond. The program encourages youth to research and explore ways to lead areas of change important to them. Then, youth may take part in individual and/or collaborative opportunities to serve in those areas. Each of For a Real Change’s multi-week programs includes a Learn. Serve. Impact. component.
Thank you to AT&T for sponsoring Learn. Serve. Impact. service activities during 2023-24.

Challenging Leadership
What do youth do in Learn. Serve. Impact.?
Each quarter, youth For a Real Change programs can take advantage of resources to learn about the quarterly topic. After learning more about the area of service, youth participate in meaningful service opportunities based on their age. While each program has planned activities incorporated into its program schedule, youth can also serve additionally on their own. Youth can report hours using Mobile Serve.
We encourage youth to learn more about the areas in which they want to make a difference. Check back for our list of readings and podcasts for different subjects.
Share your youth volunteer opportunities with us. We keep a list of ways that our youth can volunteer in small groups or with their parents.
In 2023, Jonesville Academy Scholars were recognized for their service with the MLK Day Humanitarian Award. Stay tuned as we build a community of practice where our youth take more leadership roles with service efforts.
Meaningful Service
By valuing meaningful service, For a Real Change refers to intentional interactions between individuals and the community that addresses specific needs and ultimately improve the quality of life for the areas in which they serve (Spaulding, A. & Cunningham, L. 2014). Learning about the issue and need before acting puts For a Real Change in a position to provide a greater impact. Meaningful service includes the following: volunteer service, awareness, and advocacy, giving, research, and service-learning.
