Career Pursuit aims to advance young people’s understanding of varying academic programs and careers by providing access to opportunities and educational resources to extend their experiences outside of the classroom. This program partners with businesses, colleges, and universities to bring attention to educational pathways to potential careers.
For a Real Change incorporates components of Career Pursuit in Dueña de mi futuro, Jonesville Academy and My Sister is Succeeding. Career Pursuit was able to begin thanks to a grant from the United Way of Southern Kentucky.

PARTICIPATION
Career Pursuit is a component of Dueña de mi futuro, Jonesville Academy and My Sister is Succeeding. All youth in those programs have an opportunity to participate in Career Pursuit activities based on the age of the scholar.
OVERVIEW
In our Jonesville Academy and My Sister is Succeeding programs, For a Real Change focuses on academics and leadership development with the inclusion of college and career pathway components. Meanwhile, Dueña de mi futuro maintains a heavier college and career exploration focus. United Way Flexible Spending Grant was obtained to allow us to start Career Pursuit as a component for youth in these programs and a resource for youth new to our organization. This often looks like workshops, guest speakers, educational trips, practice exercises, such as scholarship essays. Career Pursuit creates opportunities to enhance soft skills, provide applicable opportunities to practice the skills, and increase access to programs. Beginning with the 2024-25 school year, participation in Career Pursuit will be tied to scholarships offered through For a Real Change, Inc. in hopes of increasing scholars’ success after high school.
