Paint HerStory

For a Real Change, Inc. presents Paint HerStory in celebration of Women’s History Month in partnership with Light of Chance, Inc.  The event, which has featured renowned artist Alice Gatewood Waddell, encourages participants to visualize their own stories. The event will introduce art to some and serve as another opportunity to create for others.

Who can participate?

This event is open to youth in grades 5-12. The event will be somewhat fast-paced. The artwork will not be numbered. Participants who work well with following directions in creative spaces may find it easier to follow along during the event.

Will the event be in-person or online?

We will have the event in person with a limited capacity of 30 youth. We will stream the event and simultaneously provide an online learning environment for youth who would prefer to join online. The link to view online will be sent to registered participants before March 19.

What is the cost of the event?

Paint HerStory may have a registration fee for the in-person participants, but there are sponsored registrations available. Since in-person space is limited, we do ask that only those who are confident about their attendance register for the in-person event. Virtual attendees will be responsible for purchasing their own supplies.

Are supplies provided?

Supplies will be provided to youth who participate in person. Those who participate online will need to provide the following supplies: 8×10 canvas (or larger), acrylic paint, acrylic paint brushes, plate or paint palette, and clothes suitable for painting.

Can I make a donation?

If you would like to donate supplies, you can send monetary donations through our PayPal or CashApp. Learn more on our Give page.
